This summer, we got our butts in gear and banded together to run the SPARTAN RACE!
What’s the Spartan Race you ask?
Well, you can check it out here: https://www.spartan.com/en
It’s basically a fun, muddy, sweaty, obstacle course adventure. We did the 5km Sprint, but there are different levels and course lengths you can try.
Now, this might sound like a super intimidating feat.
It’s too hard, you say?
You’re not in shape enough for it, you say?
You’re nervous about all the intimidating competitors who will be there, you say?
Well, we’re here to tell you to throw that thinking right out the window.
And we’re not just talking about the Spartan Race here. When it comes to any race, event, sport, or whatever it is that you’re interested in, there’s really no need to think that way! Honestly, in most cases, when you actually get there, these events are full of some of the friendliest, most supportive people you’ll ever meet. The fitness level of the participants vary greatly, and everyone is generally so cooperative and supportive of each other, so even if you’re a beginner you’ll still feel welcome.
If you show up, try your best, and be open to having a great time, you’ll walk away with a great experience under your belt. Plus, you’ll have the added bonus of a goal to work toward in your workouts, which is the best motivator you can get!
Thinking about doing an event like the Spartan Race? Here are 4 tips for beginners to keep in mind:
1) Do your research
2) Train for your event
3) Don’t be afraid of failure
4) Consider your skill level
We, in our varying states of fitness and competitiveness, had a great time. Check out our valiant journey here, and get inspired to sign up for your next challenge!
